In depth

Verdict

An open looking nursery, where we will side with Gramm to see off topweight Count Trevisio, London Express and Commentary. The selection has not been in the winning form of some of the others, but his performances in defeat mark him out as one keep on the right side of now he's back over a mile. The form of his defeat here over course and distance last month looks good in the context of this race, and we should get on before he goes up in the weights in a couple of days' time. Count Trevisio will find it difficult to give 4lb and a beating to the selection. His debut effort at Warwick was in a weaker contest than Gramm has been running in and he looked pretty straight that day. There may be more to come here, but one or two Godolphin hotpots have gone down of late and this could go the same way. London Express looked better for the step up to this trip when winning an ordinary race at Ripon, and Mark Johnston clearly feels there is more to come in handicap company, while Commentary is a very interesting contender after winning with something in hand at Folkestone, and with Fallon now bagging the mount, she could go very well. But we take Gramm to return triumphant this time.
