Verdict

Usually an informative maiden where the market is always a good guide to follow with numerous local stables set to be represented. However, David Loder has his string well forward at the moment and a chance is taken with Cavorting, who can be expected to be ready to do himself justice as he bids to add to his stable's success in the Wood Ditton yesterday. Blue Dakota also hails from a yard that has enjoyed a good start with it's two-year-olds and, along with expensive purchase Turnkey, is worth considering as a live alternative if the market supports his claims. Silver Wraith also cost a substantial amount when he went through the sales ring and comes from a yard that are shrewd in their placement of horses of this type. The Michael Tabor-owned colt will be expected to start paying his way sooner rather than later and he is one to watch out for if he goes to Nottingham in a couple of days time. Destinate is another to bear in mind for the coming weeks as he comes here in preference to an alternative engagement at Newbury later in the week. Like many of the field, he holds a lofty reputation from his efforts at home and is sure to be a mover in the betting if stable confidence is boosted by paddock watchers. The same comments apply to Apalaga Le Jomage, who comes from a yard with a good strike-rate with their younger horses and he is another who should progress with time. However, Cavorting is speedily-bred and is sure to be on the ball for his racecourse debut - which will stand him in good stead as he bids to extend his trainer's fantastic reputation as handler of young, precocious types.
