Verdict

Skruton is selected ahead of Ruby Tallulah and Waffle. The selection was reported to have relished the ease in the ground when winning at Lingfield in May and has those conditions for the first time since then this afternoon. She ran far better than the bare facts of her latest effort at Brighton suggest and looks sure to go well with conditions to suit. Ruby Tallulah won her nursery bow on the all-weather in the style of a progressive performer. She's saddled with a penalty as a result but did score cosily and should have more to offer. Waffle has been quite highly tried and didn't run too badly on heavy ground at Haydock when one place behind Red Rossini. They meet on the same terms here but Jeremy Noseda's charge may be able to reverse the placings if the ground is less testing. The other pair of runners move into handicap company for the first time and are worth monitoring but Skruton is our idea of the winner.
