Verdict

ROARING LION is clearly the one to beat on his second in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster in October. He may well have maintained his unbeaten record that day had he not hung in the closing stages and his defeat of Nelson in the Royal Lodge here earlier has already been franked this season. Glorious Journey won both starts last year, making all in a Group 3 at Saint-Cloud on his second outing. However, he only had three rivals in that contest so is still something of an unknown quantity. White Mocha is clearly suited by a galloping track as he’s already won over a mile at Haydock and Newbury, though this requires another step forward. Masar won a Group 3 last year but was tailed off when strongly fancied for a Listed race at Meydan on his reappearance so has a bit to prove now.
