In depth

Verdict

The second division of the maiden doesn¿t appear to be quite as strong and Lake Windermere may prove good enough to land the spoils. Truly Divine is the most interesting of the newcomers whilst Spotty Muldoon is entitled to come on for his debut. John Gosden¿s filly had no chance behind a smart winner on her racecourse bow but shaped encouragingly enough despite being beaten half a length by the stable¿s second string. She¿s related to Green Lyons who has shown a useful level of form in France and the States and this 200,000 gns purchase will be expected to win races to enhance her status as a broodmare. She may not be out of the ordinary but can prove good enough here. Spotty Muldoon found everything happening a little too quickly for him on debut on soft ground at Warwick over this trip in March. He¿s been off the track for some time which is a small concern but he should have learnt plenty from the experience and this stiffer track should suit. Cotton Reel showed promise last year but was below par on his return and may be best watched as may Truly Divine unless the market gives out the right signals. Ed Dunlop¿s charge looks the part on paper and made 90,000 gns at the sales last year but may just need the initial experience. The market can guide but our vote goes the way of Lake Windermere.
