Verdict

Plenty in with chances in an open event and marginal preference is for Polish Corridor while Pantone, Pinchincha, Scent Of Victory and Alasil are others to consider. The Michael Dods-trained gelding has been a model of consistency of late and put up yet another creditable performance in defeat when last seen out over this trip at Haydock. The four-year-old found trouble in running but still finished on the heels of the leaders and looked a shade unlucky not to prevail. The son of Danzig Connection still looks fairly treated and is taken to gain an overdue success. On the revised terms, there is little to choose between Pinchincha, Scent Of Victory, Pantone and Arcalis who were the first four home in a competitive Doncaster handicap but it would be no surprise if the first-named, who goes well on this track, proved capable of confirming the plaings despite being 4lb higher. Alasil is the least exposed and may be open to further improvement but hasn't been seen out since fading out of contention in a useful contest at the Craven meeting and is probably best watched on this occasion.
