Verdict

With only one of the eight runners having seen the racecourse so far, bets are best kept to a minimum, and Velveteen Rabbit is the choice over Gennie Bond and Sabbiosa. Godolphin also had the well thought of Swan Nebula entered here but instead rely on Velveteen Rabbit, by Singspiel out of a mile winner, Velvet Lady who herself is a half-sister to Moon Ballad. She should be straight enough and with the stable having emerged from the doldrums, can make an immediate impact. Richard Hannon won this event last year with Surf The Net and saddles Gennie Bond, a Pivotal half-sister to plenty of winning sprinters. She should know her business, while Sabbiosa's stable seem to have their youngsters well forward going by what we have seen so far. It is definitely one to watch with an eye to the future, but a small investment on Velveteen Rabbit may not go amiss.
