Verdict

Faith And Reason can get the better of Latin Scholar and Bavarica amongst others. Andrew Stringer's gelding has found his form of late and will appreciate the return to racing over this trip having run out of steam over a mile and a half last time. The fitting of blinkers should help him to keep his concentration and he's partnered by one of the more experienced and talented amateurs in the race. Latin Scholar held on gamely to land the spoils last time and must be respected but the horse that he beat that day isn't the hardiest of battlers and he may have his work cut out in defying his penalty. Laish Ya Hajar enters calculations as he defeated the selection last month and is better off at the weights but he finished a long way behind Latin Scholar last time with no obvious excuse. Bavarica is on a decent mark and won a race in this series last year under today's pilot. She comes into the race in fair form, will appreciate the step back up in trip and has run well at the track so she's entitled to make a bold bid. However, logic dictates that we must put our trust in Faith And Reason.
