In depth

Verdict

A race where one should tread carefully and on the list for consideration are Penryn, Highland Blaze and Regal Velvet and we will take a chance with Penryn at the likely odds. Penryn should have few problems with the surface as he is a son of Selkirk and as he is trained by David Elsworth, there is always a chance that he will trade a couple of points bigger than he should. Highland Blaze floundered on soft ground on debut so it is interesting that Godolphin have elected to try again. Regal Velvet was nicely supported ahead of her most recent outing. She seemed to make a habit of finding trouble at every turn on that occasion and it is hoped that a better run ensues. Rodeo ran well in a back-end maiden on soft last term so any market confidence should be noted. Grand Silence plugged on well on debut and could be capable of more. A tough race in which the market will have its say and a chance is taken with Penryn.
