Verdict

Conditions will suit Solar Power, who can get back in the winning habit, from Dame De Noche, Forever Phoenix and Saristar. The selection could be worth catching before she goes up 6lbs and she is definitely going the right way. Dropped back from 7f and a mile to this trip at Haydock two runs ago, she scored for Johnny Murtagh, running on well. Soft ground was not in her favour last time but she still managed to improve despite finishing runner-up, and back on this ground she looks to have a good chance of landing this. Forever Phoenix will also like underfoot conditions and has enjoyed a decent season, winning in her turn and putting up some good efforts in defeat. She looks sure to go well again though she may just have too much weight. James Given found the key to Dame De Noche when dropping her back to this sort of trip earlier in the year, yielding some prize money at six furlongs and then a win at five last time out at Sandown. She remains on the same mark here and can give the selection a bit to do. Of the remainder, the race won by Saristar at Pontefract the other week was not a classic, but she handles trip and ground well and may be able to put a poor effort last time behind her and be much more prominent again here. However, Solar Power has plenty going for her and gets the nod.
