In depth

Verdict

The one that stands out off the card here is Murray River, who is 20lbs and more better than these on official ratings and therefore should not have too much trouble disposing of them at these weights. Lord Brex and Totland Bay can battle out the minor honours. Murray River has been running off marks in the 120s for the past couple of seasons, only just starting to slip down the weights and was beaten here last time over shorter. However, his previous start has seen him win over 2m 7f at Stratford and back over a similar trip here and with apparently so much in hand he can take this poor contest. Lord Brex runs off level weights with the selection, and therefore has a pretty much impossible task in trying to find over a stone with that rival. However, he looks the one for the forecast provided he gets home over this longer trip, which he is likely to do. Totland Bay will have no worries on that score, having won over course and distance last year. One who can set the pace in his races, the Phardante gelding looks a bit one paced in the closing stages, but should be good enough to beat most of these, with the exception of the aforementioned pairing and it would be a big surprise if this seller went to anything else but Murray River.
