In depth

Verdict

Dovedale is the selection in the penultimate race on the card with Idian Mix and Nortonthrope Lad as the most feasible alternatives. Jeremy Scott's mare has become something of an Exeter specialist with two recent victories obtaining. The booking of James White is a complete positive and she should be capable of giving weight and a beating all around. Idian Mix stays further than this and will appreciate life if it becomes a complete slog in the mud. Granted he won on fast going last time out but he had plenty of form in France with give and he has to be respected at this grade. Nortonthorpe Lad looked distinctly moderate a few months ago. He seems to have reawakened his enthusiasm for the game of late but whether he is capable of operating out of plating class is something to debate. Truly Fruitful has had a couple of pipe openers on the flat. He did not uproot any trees on previous hurdling starts so the market has to be watched in order to see if he has shown anything at home. Hippodrome shaped well for a while at Fontwell before dropping away tamely in the final analysis. Indigo Sky is a rare summer runner for Henrietta Knight. Dovedale looks in good heart at present and we side with her to score again.
