    Verdict

The feeling persists that Trip To Paris may be drinking in the last-chance saloon as he hasn’t won since landing the Ascot Gold Cup in 2015. He may have needed his run in the Dubai Gold Cup last month but still finished tailed off and was well behind sixth Wall of Fire. Culmination made just one appearance on the Flat in France but it was a winning one and he was successful in a maiden hurdle at Ayr last month. Elidor is a smart handicapper and this is probably his optimum trip. He has every chance at the weights but it may be significant that MOONRISE LANDING (NAP) takes her chance in this rather than the Marathon on All-Weather Championship Day at Lingfield on Friday, which she won last year. Ralph Beckett’s mare showed she was just effective on Turf when beating Quest For More and Elidor in a Listed race at York last May and this is her time of year.
