In depth

Verdict

HAKEEM (NAP) probably came up against a smart juvenile when beaten by Global Applause at Newmarket. He's entered in a couple of valuable sales races later in the year and will be expected to get off the mark in this, though the well-bred Beverley third Book Of Poetry should also be winning soon and is sure to appreciate this extra furlong. Mesmeric Moment looks vulnerable again but Brian Ellison's newcomers Roar and Nordic Combined are worth a market check, though both have middle-distance pedigrees so are likely to do better when given a greater test of stamina.
