Verdict

TANKS FOR THAT might have gone close to winning had the earth not moved beneath his feet and he can gain compensation here at the main expense of Bormo and Shoreacres. The selection was still going well when slipping on the approach to a fence at Leicester before, perhaps unsettled by that, making a mistake at the next and having to settle for second place. He handles good to soft going very well and should benefit from not being rushed back to the track too soon, and with a clear round he will be very tough to beat. Bormo did not really show as much on his second start over fences as his first run had promised, but he may well be seen to better effect today over the longer trip and this ground suits. With Alan King's runners now seemingly over their worries he could show some more today. Shoreacres handles conditions but both his wins have been on a sound surface so may not be suited ideally, while he also has to prove his stamina over this far. Mam Ratagan is blessed with some ability and this is not in the same class as the recent Ascot race he contested, so we expect him to be able to get heavily involved, but he might come up short against the unexposed Tanks For That.
