      Verdict

A chance is taken with Farne Island, who is fancied to confirm recent form with Crimson Flame, while also seeing off the challenges of the penalised Superior Star and Spinning. The last named looked ready for a step up in distance after finding himself tapped for toe near the finish at Carlisle last month. Being by Pivotal, a little give underfoot would not go amiss for David Barron's charge but he definitely has scope to improve and is well worth noting in the betting. Superior Star bolted up at Musselburgh last week and is sure to make a bold bid to follow up. A 6lb penalty looks fair and he will be dangerous to underestimate. Crimson Flame has a chance at the weights and, having finished close up behind the selection when they met at Carlisle last month, he has to be respected. However, Farne Island has a far more solid profile and, as he knows what it takes to actually win a race, John Quinn's charge is fancied to have the extra reserves when it really matters.
