In depth

Verdict

Mr Cellophane is a tentative choice in the finale, with Bel Cantor, Imperial Gain and Boy Dancer spearheading the list of dangers. The last named deserved his win at Carlisle earlier in the month and arrives here in good heart. He obviously acts well on firm ground and should give a good account of himself. However, an 8lb rise looks harsh and he has a stiff test today. Imperial Gain is lightly raced and is thus open to improvement. He is going the right way and is worth a cautionary look in the betting market. Bel Cantor has the benefit of experience on his side and is another that was not winning out of turn when he scored over course and distance last month. He should handle the conditions but has more on his plate from top weight. Therefore, we switch to the potentially well handicapped Mr Cellophane. The three-year-old has strung together a series of solid performances and, with a handy draw in stall seven & Kevin Darley booked for the ride, there are plenty of reasons to expect a bold show from this half-brother to multiple sprint winner Fruits Of Love.
