There was plenty to like about the way Leo's Lucky Star won on debut at Ayr last month, and with trainer Mark Johnston suggesting he would come on plenty for it, he looks the clear choice here, with African Breeze the main danger. The selection does have to concede weight here, but that three length ready success from Sunset Strip was a clear indication that Leo's Lucky Star can go on to better things than this, and as he is related to a Listed winner in Leo's Luckyman it seems likely that we will see that improvement come sooner rather than later. Considered for the Coventry at Royal Ascot by Mark Johnston, his trainer clearly thinks he is decent and he should therefore be up to taking this prize. African Breeze is a nice filly ran well in the Hilary Needler at Beverley before winning a small race at Redcar last time. Richard Whitaker thinks she will get this trip on her first attempt over it, and may improve further, but she probably doesn't have the scope of the selection and may have to settle for a place. Of the others, Space Shuttle makes some appeal now that the hoods are reapplied, after winning with them on at Doncaster earlier in the month. Trip and ground suit and a good performance is anticipated. Meanwhile Tiviski does not have much to find with African Breeze on their running in the Hilary Needler, and any rain would help her cause so she cannot be readily dismissed, but we will concentrate on the one likely to progress most here, and that is Leo's Lucky Star.
