In depth

Verdict

Ballinteni could challenge but has run poorly so far this year whilst Kashimin hasn't won since debut so we side with TROPICAL BACHELOR who had back-to-back wins last month. The pick is a versatile sort who was last seen attempting a two mile chase at Southwell. Although disappointing since his last win at York, returning to the flat he has every chance. John Fahy's claim will assist and although the trainer only has one winner to his name at the course over the last five years, he may double his tally with his entry here. Gay Kelleway has had some good winners recently and has a good option today in Ballinteni who has hopes on the pick of his form but he has been very disappointing so far this year and is best avoided. It is interesting that Kashimin is stepped-up in trip for this event but although connections will be optimistic for some improvement he has weakened towards the finish in shorter contests lately and there are reservations about him going the distance. We side with Tropical Bachelor to return to the winners' enclosure.
