Mark Johnston has won the last two of these and has a pair of entries. Joe Fanning rides Beardwood, who won here in November though in a lower-class handicap off 6lb lower. Rainbow Rebel has been improving and stepped into this company at Ripon last weekend and wasn't beaten far. However, BRIARDALE finished in front of him that day and James Bethell's charge can race off the same mark so looks the one to beat. Swift Emperor is a very consistent handicapper who should be in the shake-up though could be a couple of pounds high but King Bolete is obviously highly regarded as he ran in the Juddmonte at York after his earlier handicap victories and was sent to Dubai for a Group 2 in March. Storm King made all at Chester and steps up a grade off a higher mark as does Euchen Glen, who won nicely at Ayr.
