In depth

Verdict

Hopeful Purchase should prove too strong in this maiden with Moonhawk and Detente the pair to chase him home. The selection looked in need of the run when finishing fourth behind Ivy Creek at Sandown last month. That race has worked out quite well and with the benefit of that run under his belt he should be good enough to get his head in front today. Moonhawk is interesting as this colt from the Howard Johnson yard will have his ground today and he failed to get home over 1m4f at York last time. This trip will be more suitable and he should give our selection the most to think about. Detente is a well-bred newcomer from the James Fanshawe yard and he is certainly worth a look in the market. Ha'penny Beacon made a promising debut and is another with place claims, but for the winner we will stick with Hopeful Purchase who gets the confident vote.
