Verdict

Roger Varian has made a bright start to his training career and can take this with LONG AWAITED. The son of Pivotal made a very promising debut at Leicester in October and it was probably the very heavy going that caused a surprise subsequent defeat at Yarmouth. Easy Over attracted support on his debut at Haydock last July and ran well enough to suggest he can do well this season. He will probably provide the main threat. It's a surprise to find Fire In Babylon being kept to 6f as he's a son of Montjeu while Powder Keg ran no sort of race on his debut at Doncaster and will need to show dramatic improvement to get involved.
