In depth

Verdict

Those with previous experience have done nothing special up to press so Lowther Stakes entry Match Ball will not need to be anything out of the ordinary to hold the likes of Molly Marie and Satin Finish, who set the standard from those to have previously raced. That said, Elsie Wagg was close-up behind the first mentioned of those two the last time she raced and is entitled to get closer if more patient tactics are employed today. Hillside Heather, on the other hand, looks destined for handicaps and is one to watch this afternoon - especially with the selection set to take her chance in the line up. The daughter of Grand Slam may not have the illustrious pedigree of some of her stablemates but, as her sire was a top-class two-year-old, Match Ball, whose yard are flying with their juveniles this season, can be expected to know enough about what is required to see her home today. Satin Finish, being from the same family as the high-class Belmez could give the selection a scare but she is expected to be seen to better effect over further.
