Low numbers are normally favoured when the ground rides fast at Ripon so it may be worth taking a chance on Glencairn Star, from the in-form Jim Goldie stable, who will be coming out of stall four with Aegean Dancer and Blackheath rated the biggest dangers. The selection has already shown that he handles fast ground and, with the yard in good form, lack of a recent run need not be of concern. Karl Burke's Ashes has gone up 4lbs for his win on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton last time and now has more to do, while Pomfret Lad would need to improve quite a bit for his recent reappearance run to trouble the judge. Henry Hall has the best of the draw but may need another run or two put him spot on, while a market move for Conjecture would be of interest although he has been done few favours with the draw. Trojan Flight is not the easiest of rides and may be best left out of calculations from his high berth so a bigger threat may come from the lightly raced Aegean Dancer, who has been kept fit on the sand of late. Blackheath could be of interest having had a couple of runs now but the vote goes to Glencairn Star, who has solid claims if fit enough for his return.
