In depth

Verdict

This should chiefly concern the two at the top of the card. Ace Ventura will no doubt improve for the experience of his debut fifth over this trip at Doncaster, where he hung under pressure. But CARP KID was an eye-catcher when sixth behind Fenann at Newbury. He stayed on well in the closing stages and the extra furlong here should be right up his street. Gozo Girl was a cheap buy but she’s by Nayef out of a winning miler on the all-weather and could prove the pick of the newcomers.
