    Verdict

The market should tell us plenty about this contest but without that knowledge AULD BURNS is selected to make a winning debut, while Waiter's Dream and Cathcart Castle look best of those to have raced so far. The selection looks the pick of the Hannon-trained trio on pedigree, with Roi Du Boeuf and Measuring Time perhaps both best watched first time unless the betting speaks highly of them. Their stablemate Auld Burns is out of a triple 5-10f winner at ages two and three, and while he may improve with age, he is likely to be plenty straight enough for this first run with the yard's juveniles carrying all before them this season, so we will chance him. Waiter's Dream was tried over a similar trip at Newbury and was not knocked about when beaten. There was a fair degree of promise from the Oasis Dream colt and he can build on that. The same applies to Windsor debutant Cathcart Castle, who should come on for the experience and this step up to 7f. Pigeon Hollow is likely to need this, and although Green Pearl will probably do better at three, Ralph Beckett has his string in good form and his colt could go well. An interesting opener can be taken by Auld Burns.
