Verdict

Shamshon was due to run in the opener here yesterday and was only fourth in this last year, one place behind Bahamian Sunrise who is 2lb lower. Silvestre De Sousa partnered the recent Epsom second to victory here in the spring and is back on board but he’s been done no favours by the draw and Soie D'leau and Jashma will also start in the middle of the track. Pettochside ran poorly at Epsom but a case can be made for Haddaf. However, Mick Easterby rarely wastes a trip this far south and the fact that he’s booked Frankie for RAPID APPLAUSE suggests the veteran North Yorkshire handler believes his charge can complete the hat-trick upped in grade. Compas Scoobie could be suited by the way this race is likely to be run and holds each-way claims.
