In depth

Verdict

Light from Mars, Sacrilege and Serious Choice make the shortlist here, with Light from Mars taken to come out on top. Sacrilege is less exposed than some of his rivals, and after a good second on the all-weather, showed his versatility when winning a handicap on his Turf debut. That was a good win at Haydock, and he looks a threat to all. Serious Choice was having his first run on fast ground when picking up a little race at Yarmouth last time, and he did so emphatically. If the rain stays away he looks interesting. There was a lot to like about the way Light from Mars kept repelling the persistent challenge of Victoria Reel at Chepstow last time. He enjoyed the faster ground that day, and provided the ground does not cut up, Light from Mars gets a confident vote, looking leniently treated despite carrying top weight here.
