Verdict

Luck in running is going to play a crucial part in a field of this size but they will hopefully go a decent pace if Australia Day lines up with Submariner and Kings Destiny others that could potentially race up with the pace. Sandor and HANOVERIAN BARON are unlikely to be too far behind and both have form that puts them firmly in the mix whilst Spanish Duke was hugely impressive at Newmarket but he's drawn in one and that win came on soft ground which he may not get here. A 6lb rise for his Goodwood second is no help to Changing The Guard whilst Forte Dei Marmi needs to bounce back from a poor run at York if he's to provide his trainer with a second win in this race in three years. Cumulus Nimbus may have the race run to suit but three year olds have struggled to win this race over the years with four year olds towards the top of the weights holding the upper hand but Hanoverian Baron hasn't got too many miles on the clock for a five year old and the combination of a strong pace and the hill should see Tony Newcombe's likeable handicapper go close.
