In depth

Verdict

Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Seventh Heaven is preferred to stablemate Pretty Perfect but Aidan O’Brien’s filly was a disappointment at Ascot last time, though did have her excuses. She had beaten Sir Michael Stoute’s Queen’s Trust at York before that and both race on lasix for the first time here. Catch a Glimpse won last year’s Juvenile Fillies Turf and is another looking to put a below-par effort behind her after flopping at Keeneland last month but Al’s Gal continued her relentless progress from winning a claimer in February to landing the Grade 1 E P Taylor at Woodbine on her latest start. Avenge is another on the upgrade and won her first Grade 1 here last month when beating Zipessa but LADY ELI (NAP) makes most appeal. The 2014 Juvenile Fillies Turf winner here made a remarkable recovery from a life-threatening case of laminitis last year and won the Grade 1 Flower Bowl at Belmont last month. She beat both Sentiero Italia and stablemate Sea Calisi, who had earlier won the Beverley D, on that occasion and trainer Chad Brown has won three of the last four renewals. The remainder look up against it unless the Japanese filly Nuovo Record can reproduce last year’s second in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin.
