Verdict

Three that stand out as the leading players here are Cool Mission, Milans Man and our pick BALLYBRIGGAN. The selection represents trainer John Quinn, whose has kept his runners in good form for some time and has a good strike rate over jumps. The five-year-old ran well in a Market Rasen novices' hurdle last month, his first outing over timber, and in the process he proved that he acts with cut. This trip looks ideal for now and he can improve enough to score. Cool Mission represents an in form yard and showed distinct promise behind a subsequent scorer when last seen in April. That bumper effort reads well in the context of today's race and having handled cut on debut the gelding should be at home in the conditions on this, his hurdling debut. Howard Johnson saddles Milans Man, who scored in an Irish point, and will surely be a fair bit better than his debut for the trainer at Kelso. Soft ground suits and he can get heavily involved. Zero Six Too won't mind conditions but will need to show more than he did in bumpers to have a chance of winning, whilst Basford Lass will need to improve her jumping to take a hand in the finish. The market will be interesting particularly in relation to the McCain runner here but without that guide preference is for Ballybriggan.
