      Verdict

      LUCKY MELLOR looks the solid option to go one better here ahead of Athwaab and Orchid Wing. The selection ran well here on Saturday when just held over the same trip and off the same mark might be able to go one better here under conditions that clearly suit. Athwaab rates a danger having won last time although today's drop back to five is enough reason to oppose the filly despite a 1lb higher mark looking fair. Orchid Wing needs monitoring for support making his handicap debut in modest company. Richard Fahey's colt hasn't yet encountered this surface though and so has it all to prove here despite being of some interest. Italian Tom looks well treated on his last win back in September and as that came on soft ground there is hope he'll take to this surface whilst Caramelita may be suited by stepping down to five furlongs for the first time and has been running well. A reasonably competitive start to racing that can go the way of Lucky Mellor.
