In depth

Verdict

Some real old stagers in this two mile handicap including Nowell House and Glory Quest but Bid For Fame is the one that catches the eye. Nicky Henderson is going great guns over the jumps and he does well with his few flat runners. The selection has been contesting some hot hurdle races in recent weeks, but also boasts some decent flat form including a gallant second to Theatre in a valuable Newbury handicap in the summer. This looks his ideal trip and he will take a great deal of beating. Nowell House was well beaten on his only attempt on the fibresand back in 2001, but his shrewd trainer gives him another go, and he comes here in pretty good form following a recent victory at Ayr and a decent effort at Wolverhampton. Glory Quest rarely runs a bad race and his recent second behind Macaroni Gold was yet another testimonial to his great temperament, he is sure to run well, but on this occasion we will plump for Bid For Fame
