    Verdict

A modest claiming event where Mr Mischief is a cautious selection to beat Moon Shot and Turftanzer. Pat Haslam¿s gelding is making his Southwell debut but was most impressive when landing an amateur handicap at Wolverhampton recently. The runner up has subsequently given the form a boost, so if handling this new surface, he will take all the beating. The ex- Irish runner Moon Shot has not seen a racecourse for over a year but was successful in a much better race than this at the Curragh. Prior to running in the Emerald Isle he was a decent performer with Sir Mark Prescott and contested races at Wolverhampton and Lingfield, so there is every chance he will handle this surface. Adding to the foreign flavour, Turftanzer has been racing in Italy and should improve for his recent British debut at Catterick, but all things considered Mr Mischief looks the safest proposition
