Russian Lord has more scope than most of his rivals and is given the nod over Lambrini Bianco and Trovaio, while Father Jim is an interesting one to note in the betting market. Father Jim has not stood much racing over the last few years but did catch the eye in a Hunters Chase at Folkestone last month. He jumped well and could be good value to coast around to snatch a place in the frame near the finish. Trovaio may struggle to confirm the Cartmel form with Lambrini Bianco on these terms and it remains to be seen how he will take a second race within eight days. It's an awful long journey for him from his Kinross base, so connections must be hoping for a big run if he is allowed to take his chance. However, Russian Lord has the edge in terms of anticipated improvement and, having proved he has the guts for a battle at Fontwell in April, the improving seven-year-old looks to have a solid chance of following up in this company.
