Verdict

Ashkoul, a dual winner on the Flat in France, finished runner-up in a three-horse race on his hurdling bow at Kempton but should have improved for the experience. First Du Charmil found 2m4f stretching his stamina at Newbury in May after a better run over this trip at Towcester but SIR EGBERT ran well for a long way before blowing up at Ffos Las on his reappearance and may have come on enough to take this. Wenceslaus hasn't really shown enough but Phoenix Rock will have come on for her run at Worcester in October and should do better. Winning point-to-pointer Copper West has his first start for Tom George after transferring from Ireland where he showed promise in bumpers while Scorpion Express landed a bumper here before well beaten at Aintree.
