In depth

Verdict

DAN CHILLINGWORTH won well last time and he could be a good bet to follow up here; the list of dangers is headed by Nevada Desert and Spinning. The selection got his head in front last time and prior to that he wasn't beaten far behind Spate River, who has since gone on to frank the form. He is relatively unexposed and he looks a good bet to go in again. Nevada Desert looks his chief rival as he ran a sound race in third behind Major Magpie at Pontefract last time. He was no match for the winner that day but it was still a solid effort and he has got course and distance winning form here. Spinning has been running in some pretty hot races but after a fruitful winter campaign on the all-weather, the handicapper now appears to have his measure. Crocodile Bay will be suited by the return to this trip, but he seems to have gone off the boil. White Deer has been showing a decent level of consistency but both of his wins have come over 7f. Dan Chillingworth has got some solid recent form and he should prove tough to beat.
