This does not look to be the best of contests with a chance taken about Pat Haslam's Looking Down, who is preferred to Scippit and Sweetwater. The last mentioned, a French import, trained by Martin Pipe has yet to show any real worthwhile form over hurdles but has to be respected in a poor race. Scippit is more exposed than most of these but this is his level and the five-year-old is hard to ignore. Hurdling newcomers Power Bird and Springalong would not need to be out of the ordinary to take a hand, while Royal Maid has to be respected, if fit enough after an absence. The vote though goes to Looking Down, who showed promise on her first start over hurdles at Hexham last month and would not need to improve much on that effort to figure here.
