In depth

Verdict

A low grade chase in which chasing debutant Baloo is pitched in against Grey Ciseaux and Caliwag. Jimmy Frost's charge was a fair sort over hurdles and should have no problems in handling today's surface. The only question for his backers is whether he handles the larger obstacles. Grey Ciseaux has had the misfortune to run into Sam Adamson on his previous starts over the larger obstacles. The former Hunter is exposed and could be the answer if Baloo's jumping is not up to scratch. Caliwag is a long-standing maiden under both codes and was well-beaten on his last foray over the obstacles at Plumpton. Mr Nemo is respected on his second to Niagara at Plumpton. He faced an impossible task behind Brother Joe at Chepstow and at least has less in the way of competition today. His Nibs has ability although the recent form of the stable leaves something to be desired. We will cross our fingers and hope that Baloo can transfer his ability to fencing.
