In depth

Verdict

Qrackers is surely better than he showed at Chepstow earlier this month but the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding is hard to back with confidence on that evidence and a safer bet looks to be Warsaw Pact, who gets the vote with Poseidon's Secret rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has shown improved form in recent starts, latterly when successful in decent fashion at Southwell, and the Hobbs runner is taken to defy a 9lb rise for that success. Petito has been running consistently well but is held by Qrackers on their running at Wincanton last month so looks best watched, while Archie Gunn was also behind in that contest and is hard to recommend. Cape Greko may struggle to give weight away all round and of more interest may be Charlie Mann's recent Plumpton scorer Poseidon's Secret, who makes his handicap debut today off what seems a fair mark. Warsaw Pact was good value for his Southwell success though and he is taken to follow up here.
