In depth

Verdict

Coleorton Choice is a tentative selection, while Monsieur Jourdain and Secret Venue are others that have shown promise in their starts so far and are worth bearing in mind. Of the newcomers: Aahaygran, Prime Delivery and Sirenuse are interesting contenders, with the last named, who holds numerous high profile entries, being one to be particularly wary of if the market speaks in his favour. Secret Venue has finished second in each of his previous starts and, as a half-brother to useful sprinters Olivia Grace and Our Fred; he has to merit serious consideration. The form of his latest outing has taken a few knocks in the last couple of weeks, though. Monsieur Jourdain was slowly into stride on his debut in April but has been given plenty of time to get his act together. Tim Easterby is always a trainer to follow as his youngsters gain in experience and this February foal should not be underestimated. However, Coleorton Choice created a good impression by the way he stuck to the task when he finished a close third at Warwick 12 days ago and, with the experience of a battle under his belt, the son of Choisir is taken as a good option in a wide open maiden.
