      Verdict

With most of these not always the most consistent, one could be forgiven for choosing John Keats who is the likeliest to run his race, however he had no excuses last time out and so we will plump for Choysia now back in grade; Makabul and Choreography make up the shortlist. The selection was highly-tried in Listed class at Pontefract last time out having beaten the re-opposing Choreography at Catterick. That win came on quick ground and whilst the last-named is now 5lb better off for that length defeat, the selection is fancied to confirm the placings. Steel Blue hasn't gone on since winning over course and distance at the beginning of August, however he is still feasibly handicapped and shouldn't be ruled out. Cornus is capable on his day but isn't reliable and he has an inexperienced jockey aboard, so of more interest may be Oranmore Castle although this son of Giant's Causeway is arguably better over five furlongs. That same comment applies to Pickering, whilst Makabul is certainly at home over this trip but would prefer the heavens to open. At a price Ingleby Princess could go well now back over six furlongs on quick ground, however Choysia should relish the drop in grade and gets the nomination.
