In depth

Verdict

Another competitive race in which El Coto, Imperialistic and Selective form the shortlist and the vote is given to El Coto. The selection lost no caste in defeat when a good fourth behind Fine Silver at Newbury last time. If he can reproduce that effort here then he will not be far away at the finish. Imperialistic ran as though her turn might be about to come when a close third behind Pentecost over this course and distance, but this race is more competitive and the draw has given her plenty to do. Selective looked in need of the race at Doncaster last time over 6f and he reverts back to his optimum trip here. He is well-drawn and it would be no surprise to see him go close. Silk Fan is another that has been every chance by the draw, while My Paris may be in the grip of the handicapper at present and is probably best watched. This is a fascinating handicap which may just go the way of El Coto.
