Verdict

Tony Martin won the first running of this a year ago and Cassells Rock had shown promise at this level before a couple of moderate efforts in handicaps. Erlkonig, twice a winner on the Flat in Germany, made a highly encouraging start over timber when chasing home Queen Alphabet at KIlbeggan. He will be fancied to go one better with that under his belt while Irish Bulletin will be no pushover after a fine second to Indian Icon at Killarney when McKinley finished tailed off. The latter, a winner on the Flat at the Curragh in October, can surely do better but POLISHED ROCK is taken to make a successful debut over timber as he's a useful middle-distance performer on the Flat and he's with the right yard to get the best out of him. Sinour never got involved when making his hurdling debut at Cork in April but did better at Clonmel last month and should have more to offer.
