In depth

Verdict

Jim Old's Kelv could be of interest on his first outing since November in a race as moderate as this but he may prefer a faster surface and preference is for Monash Lad, with Blue Hills rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been running well in selling races of late and a reproduction of recent efforts, including when successful at Newton Abbot on similar ground to today last month, may well suffice. Jug Of Punch showed signs of a return to form last time but may need some help from the handicap, while High Jack is probably best watched reverting to hurdles after a spell chasing. Solarias Quest is another returning to hurdles after an unsuccessful spell chasing and of more interest may be Blue Hills, who comes into this in good order from the flat and over hurdles. Award Winning is less exposed than most of these and showed improved form at Exeter last month but preference is for stable companion Monash Lad.
