Verdict

Countess Comet's two victories over hurdles have come on Catterick's tight circuit and she'll find this much tougher with her penalties, though she's undoubtedly still on the upgrade. She has to concede 5lb to SPEED STEED, however, and though Tim Vaughan's charge hasn't exactly set the world alight since arriving from Ireland he should take advantage of the allowance and Richard Johnson is on board again. Pasture Bay attempted to make all over 2m5f on heavy ground at Huntingdon and was in front at today's trip. The quicker going should aid his cause and he's not without a chance nor is Captain Brown, whose one success on the Flat came on fast going.
