Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Sainglend's recent second at Hereford entitles him to consideration, while Russe Blanc made a satisfactory start over hurdles with a third at Chepstow last month. Themilanhorse either needed the run or didn't last home over 2m7f at Stratford on his hurdling bow as he faded badly in the latter stages and should finish closer here. Tour D'Argent, Stormy Gale and Black Noddy are others to note on their first start over hurdles but a chance is taken on fellow hurdling debutant NO SUBSTITUTE, as he's shown ability in bumpers and trainer Alan King has won two of the last three renewals of this contest.
