In depth

Verdict

Mercers Row is penalised for winning at Carlisle last week but scored by four lengths and can figure again. But Gannicus looks to have a stiffer task having failed to cope with a 2lb rise at Brighton having won at the same track earlier. RED CHARMER (NAP) went close stepped up to 1m2f at Ripon recently after scoring at Beverley earlier this month. Ann Duffield's charge looks to have strong claims in this lower grade and is also preferred to Barren Brook, who has a chance on his earlier second at Pontefract. Tornesel is lightly-raced and could go well after a pipe-opener at Redcar.
