Verdict

Irish import L'Antartique impressed on his debut for Ferdy Murphy at Haydock earlier this month and is taken to follow up at the main expense of Brave Rebellion and Whispered Promises. The last mentioned made a winning start to his hurdling career in June and has to be respected although he faces no easy task under his penalty, while Harmony Brig is probably best watched on his return. Dark Character had some useful form in bumpers but has given little cause for optimism in two starts over timber, while George Stubbs does not look good enough in this company. The Duke's Speech and Double Vodka may be good enough to win races but look likely to play only a minor role here with Brave Rebellion holding more solid claims. Keith Reveley's gelding looked useful in bumpers and has shown promise over hurdles but L'Antartique is potentially out of the top drawer and can land this before going on to better things.
