In depth

Verdict

An exceptionally tough maiden to fathom. Winning bumper Mr Groocock will surely do better over hurdles in time and Cool Klan has shown enough to suggest he'll be winning before too long. Shazner ran a cracker behind Ancient Days at Clonmel in March and he should be forgiven his run a couple of weeks later on desperate ground at Limerick. After a promising debut over hurdles, THOMOND started favourite at Clonmel on Friday but found Goodoldhonkytonk too strong. Tonight's longer trip and faster ground should see Noel Meade's charge in a better light and he can go one better. Mimi And Bow and Pollywollydoodle are others to note in a very open contest.
